Kite Eyewear

Kite
noun
  1. 1.
a toy consisting of a light frame with thin material stretched over it, flown in the wind at the end of a long string.

Whilst the above description is true, it’s also a young and modern eyewear brand currently based online and in Westfield Stratford but will be expanding out into Soho and Shoreditch this year.

Being around the area a lot I always enjoy visiting their store and seeing all their new styles whilst secretly making a wish list on all the frames I want. This time I was invited to attend an event at their store as an opportunity to network with other stores in the centre and to try out their frames with a few drinks and nibbles and a DJ.

Their frames are always fresh, modern, and always ahead of the fashion curve from innovation with colourways and material to revamping classic vintage styles.

A frame that did catch my eye is the Bellanca. They’re reminiscent of vintage glasses from the ’80s and early ’90s but updated through a much thinner frame, material, and colouring. These frames would 100% be my choice of next frames if I was not introduced to the next set of frames from their new collection….so new that they have not been named as yet! I may still get the Bellanca but as a pair of sunglasses as they’re perfect in size to shield me from the sun.

Kite : Bellanca

My favourite frame of the night is the rounded black frame with the silver bar across the top. The style is so new that it has not been named as yet but it is similar to the Otto frame. Product code M29

Usually, I gravitate towards the larger and a more rounded square frame but there’s something about the bold lines and curved that really drew my attention. The frames are not completely round like early colonial Chinese glasses but the engineering and thought behind the design ensures that where the frame flattens and curves compliment the face.

Favourite pick of the night

Their pricing is at an amazing flat rate of £150 which includes their frames and prescription Karl Zeiss Lenses as standard, you’d be crazy not to give them a try. They also offer a try at home service too so you can model at your own leisure for 7 days!

British design, Italian crafted, and German lenses. What more could you ask for!
