Kite Eyewear Eyebar // Redchurch Street Shoreditch London opening 17th November

11/2020 Update: The pricing scheme has now changed from what was written below to individual pricing for frames and lens options.

My go to eyewear brand for the past few years has been Kite. Ever since discovering the brand in Westfield Stratford from working next door to them i’ve started wearing them and received nothing but praise from strangers and friends alike.

In their next stage of the brand’s evolution they have relocated from their Westfield location to Redchurch Street near Shoreditch High street end expanded the whole Kite experience to an eyebar. I was kindly invited to come down to the eyebar prior to the public opening on 17th November.

The new location is completely open with a minimal and bright aesthetic. Natural and geometric with wood and acrylic highlights throughout the space. The products are spaced around the venue at the eyebar, waiting area at the back and also on the floating shelves almost like an interactive exhibition and the frames are a work of art (Which they are).

Eye health for Kite is just as important as choosing the style of frame and aesthetic. As such, Kite offers complimentary testing and state of the art equipment to their customers. The testing area located towards the rear of the store has a spa-like feel with the dim lights in the area. The optometrist takes great care and interest in you to gain an overall view of your health and is always helpful in calming any worries you may have.

Following the test I was guided to the eyebar and was handed over to a personal consultant. The eye bar offers a one to one service in your own individual booth with a consultation on your style preference and use all with a complimentary drink. From that, trays and trays of frames are brought out for you to select, try on, and refine your selection to the final frame.

I’ve always valued the opinions of the guys at Kite as even though they are a business so sales are important, they are honest to let you know when a frame or colourway does not suit you and are quick to suggest alternatives. It’s that kind of honesty where there’s enough trust in the guys to ultimately let them choose the final frame I go for. This has been the case for the past few frames I have bought with them. Every detail of the service has been meticulously thought through and everything flows along with ease. You can feel the passion for the brand coming from everyone there and contributing to making you feel at ease.

Having chosen my frame and performed the usual testing to set my prescription in the lens, they are now in production for me to collect soon. I wish the team all the best for the grand opening 17th November and can’t wait to pick up my new frames!
